Bio: I'm Molly. On March 5, 2013, I became Molly-Liam's mom. And since then, I've been winging this whole mom-thing. I do lots of things "wrong" and created this blog to share my mistakes and funny moments as motherhood continues to get more and more real.

  1. I just read your special “I love my son, but I’m more than a mom.” Thank you. I felt this same way after my daughter turned one and I stopped working (not entirely voluntarily). I now have two kids, ages 3.5 and 19 months and I still get that antsy feeling. Thank you for sharing this, I felt like I was alone on this, thus my overwhelming amount of guilt.

  2. I just came here from your CNN article, and I want to say Thank you. I needed to read this, to know I’m not alone. 🙂

  3. Just read your piece on CNN about being more than a mom. Thank you for putting into words what I struggle with every day. I adore my son, he is the sun and the moon in my world, but I am an accomplished woman with lots of interests and opinions and thoughts and feelings that have nothing to do with my son – and I was all that for nearly 40 years before I had a baby. Great post; just earned you another follower!

  4. Just read your article and next all the blogs… and wow! it’s like I am reading my own thoughts 🙂
My little girl is just 4 months old…and I am struggling to read for a professional exam while trying not to miss a single smile of her…. I love love my little girl but have another personality in me too. not ready to give up either. So there you go…. Thank you for sharing the thoughts…. its so good to know that I am not alone and hope we all can do it 🙂

  5. I also read your article from CNN and agree totally. I think that many women struggle with separating their “mom” identities from their “before” identities. We are judged for not feeling like just being a mom is enough. We NEED to be able to be ourselves…time away from our children or interests that have nothing to do with our children…that keep us a balanced person, a better mom in the end. It’s when we start to lose ourselves that our children suffer. Keep up the good work as a first-time mom and know that there are many that feel the same way and support you as you “wing it”!

  6. I too found your blog after reading your posting on CNN. I am so glad to find others who feel the same way. My daughter was born on March 17th last year, so very close to your son. Thank you for having the courage to share your thoughts and give validation to other mothers!

  7. I too read the CNN article and related (I wrote a similar article on my blog: mamaletsgo.blogspot.com). I’m glad more mamas are “speaking out” about this!

  8. Just read your CNN article and I could not agree more. I would not be completely fulfilled if I were only a Mom . . . or only a professional. It may be stressful but being both allows me to be the best, happiest “me!” And I think that is best for my family. Thanks for having the courage to speak out!
